The French National Frequencies Agency (ANFR) has set up a national monitoring and measurement system to control exposure to electromagnetic fields in France. It allows individuals to request a free measurement in their home by a Cofrac-accredited laboratory.

What is the ANFR's national system for monitoring and measuring electromagnetic fields?

The French National Frequencies Agency (ANFR) is the public organisation responsible for ensuring compliance with limits on public exposure to electromagnetic fields. To this end, in 2014 it set up the “national system for monitoring and measuring electromagnetic fields” to ensure compliance with these thresholds. (decree)

Under this scheme, all private individuals and establishments open to the public can have their exposure to electromagnetic fields measured to monitor exposure to electromagnetic fields in their homes and establishments open to the public.

Until now, the system has focused solely on sources of radio frequencies (WiFi, mobile telephony, base stations, etc.). From now on, the system will also be able to take into account new potential sources of exposure linked to fixed communicating objects (such as Linky, Gazpar or Ondéo meters). With this extension to the system, any French person can now check their exposure to the 9 kHz – 6 GHz frequency band free of charge.

Taking advantage of this measure is simple:

Anyone can benefit from this monitoring and measurement system in homes and places accessible to the public.

To do this, simply download and complete Cerfa form no. 15003*02. Once the form has been completed, it should be sent to an authorised organisation (local authority, approved environmental protection association, federation of family associations, etc.) so that it can sign it. The form should then be sent to the French National Frequencies Agency (ANFR), which will contact an independent accredited laboratory directly to carry out the measurement.
